The men who accused her of adultery were the ones who brought her in front of Jesus. There was no other man when they found her. That's why Jesus said, 'let the first man without sin cast the first stone', (Paraphrasing here) You see, this woman was with sin because of the way her she lived. The reason why no one went and picked up a stone at her, is because the same men who accused her, did also have sin as well. The main thing, was that there were no witnesses.....there would have to be 2-3 witnesses to find her guilty, but there were none.
You would have to read it in depth to really understand what really went on.

Because the custom of the day was the woman was the evil one. Is it much different today in some countries, where a woman will be stoned. Even her family toss stones at her. In this story, what did Jesus do? Did He condemn her? No, He made the others realize that they were sinners too and then He forgave her. Jesus was very good to woman.

That was exactly the point. Probably most of them, if not all, had committed adultery at one time or another, but thought nothing of it. Only a guilty woman was a "whore". They were just slightly delinquent. Jesus saw through their hypocrisy. (That's why they didn't like Jesus either).

Yes, women were treated badly. I always like how God loved women though and what a favor he did women when he told the men they had to leave them alone on their periods. Whew! Thank God. Could you imagine? They'd be buggin' them all the dang time.

I agree with you. I have heard 'preachers' speculate that one of the'bystanders' was the guy she committed adultery with.
None the less; itis part of the 'error' they were committing.

I though she was a pregnant prostitute. How can anyone but God identify the father of a prostitute; hence the word 'bastard' was created. The Bible does hold men (when identified) to the same punishment in the Old Test too.

The man should have been condemned too but for some reason he was omitted.

It may have been that either she was seducing him or that he at least was not married. We do know of another story where the man was guilty also and both of them were killed.
