I think the main reason most people don't ask questions about moromonism from a mormon is due to the fact that mormons never give you a straight answer. They usually say something like 'well we don't teach that anymore' or 'I've never been taught that in church'. I've even gotten completely different answers to the same question by mormons. So for us who have questions, we have to search on our own. If I want to know more about mormonism I usually listen ex-mormons. One place I go to is www.bornagainmormon.com. The host of the show is Shawn McCraney, he was a member of a Bishopric and Stake High Council, and a seminary leader. He'll answer your questions truthfully.

So I do have a question if you would like to answer it.
Brigham Young once taught that Jesus was begotten by God the father and not the Holy Spirit ( Journal of discourses vol.1 p. 50) - is this true or not? Why do you think he would have said that even if it contradicts the book of mormon? Would this make him a false prophet? why or why not? If this does make him a false prophet - then that would mean the the mormon church is following a false prophet - correct?

I'm still waiting for an answer.

Well, I have a few questions for you:

Are you located in Utah? If not, have you ever been there? Are you from a long line of Mormons, or just converted? What level Mormon are you?

I have done a lot of research on Mormonism, because I come from a long line of Mormons. My great grandfather was a lumberjack for Brigham Young, and my uncle teaches at BYU Law School. I, personally, am not Mormon. I know what they believe, as I've been to the OFFICIAL LDS website. I've also read the Book of Mormon. I just wonder how much you really know about your faith.

Alright, here we go. I was raised Mormon but left when I was 17. I learned much more about the Mormon faith after I was out of it than I ever learned while in it. How do you respond to these documented items?

--Joseph Smith was a treasure hunter. For a fee, he would look into his hat where he had two seer stones. He would use these stones to tell people where to dig for treasure on their property (The Church fought this claim for years until a court document surfaced in Illinois that held Joseph Smith guilty of defrauding people with his treasure-hunting scheme). It was these same hat and stones that he used for translating the Book of Mormon.

--Joseph Smith claimed that people dressed as Quakers lived on the Moon. He also claimed that his idea that "as God now is, Man may become" came from the god of the planet Kolob.

--When Joseph Smith opened his bank, his gold backing was nothing more than a chest full of rocks with a layer of gold coins on the top. He wasn't shot as a religious martyr, he was shot for being a crook.

--Mormon doctrine and dogma of repression and oppression have led Utah to have a suicide rate five times the national average and an infanticide rate just as high.

--Mormonism believes in Blood Atonement, meaning that if you die in a violent way that spills your blood, your sins are forgiven and you gain access to the Kingdom of Heaven. This idea is still in practice today. It's why Utah is the only state in the union that still executes its criminals by firing squad.

I have more, but I will wait until you address each of my statements.

I already know and reject such silliness utterly. That said, the modern Church of Latter Day Saints teaches how to live an upright. peacful, ethical life, so I could care less how you get there. Many of your schismatic sects have a very long way to go to this end clearly. Do some cleaning in your own house before you come to mine. Explain the cursing of the Lamanites (2 Nephi 5: 20-25)

define
"fair and delightsome"
"curse" of "skin of blackness" = "less enticing to god's people"

Thanks Brother. I'm one too, and wouldn't want to be anything else. When people finally realize that we are not a cult of evil people, and we only go for the truth, then they will accept what is offered and love it to!

Plus I feel it wonderful that we do not criticize other religions, but encourage others to follow their beliefs. All we offer is a better insight, truth, and love. But it isn't easy like others. Our standards are of the best.

Tell me what you believe about levels (gradations) of Heaven and Hell. I get in a lot of trouble with my fellow Conservative Christians when I say that I really believe that there is more than one Heaven and one Hell. I happen to really believe that you reap what you sow, as the New Testament says. (Galations 6:7-9).
