Been with a girl for 5 years already.. every Valentine's Day she gets me something, and very nice gifts, and I get her gifts too... well this year we've been rocky so far, so I told her jokingly "I won't have any money this year" and she laughed it off. Last night I asked, "what are you getting me?" and she said, "nothing, cuz your not getting me anything.."

Tomorrow night we both have work so we won't see each other. She goes out with her friend tonight, when I haven't seen her all weekend, only on Monday for a few minutes.

What the heck is up with this??

lack of communication.
talk to her, send her some flowers, surprise her.
Get your rear away from that PC and go to her!

Honestly, I bet she's doing something for you but it doesn't mean as much if you tell in advance. Unless things are really rocky, as in going to end tomorrow, there is no way that she is going to break a tradition that means this much and has lasted this long.
Ultimately you don't know for certain what she's going to do. It's up to you to be the man and make a choice. Do you love her? Is it important to you that she has a good Valentine's Day? Do you want to ruin what you have going on with her even though it has been a rocky road for a while?
If you do then don't get her anything. She'll be hurt but you told her you didn't have money - she probably thought that you were joking but still, you told her, and she told you, again, probably jokingly, that she wasn't getting you anything. You don't have to feel guilty, there will just be hurt feelings.
But if you want this to last then do what you'd do if things were perfect. Get her the gift you'd get her if everything was going the way that you wanted it to be going. You may not get to spend the time with her but come up with a cute way to give it to her and let her know you care.
If she was serious and you end up going out on a limb at least she's the jerk and you don't end up an insincere screwball.

hmm you need to talk to her when you get a chance. its possibly she took you a bit too seriously when you were joking, especially if its been rocky and was hurt by what you said, so is trying to get back at you for that. its sounds like a bit of a silly missunderstanding that has got out of hand to me. tell her you love her, take her some flowers at your next oppourtunity and promise her a better valentines day next year!! or u could have your own special valentines day later this week...:) good luck

I'm a girl and I'm still not sure about her. But unless you've been REALLY rocky she might be kidding and will actually get you something. But even if she doesn't you should still get her something. (I know I would feel guilty after that and get you something twice as nice) :)

Get her chocolates, roses, a card, and give her a great big kiss and hug next time you see her. Tell her that you love her and ask her if there is something wrong. Then take her out somewhere that she really loves to go, or some romantic resteraunt or something.

Like you said, it's been rocky. If you want that to change your asking the wrong people, you should be asking her!

.....
1) Fate is tearing you apart... I doubt it though
2) Fate is noticing your rocky relationship, and telling you to take a break, so you don't get tired of one and other, and then pushing you back together. This is probably what's up.
