I am planning a fundraising event to raise money for a cause. I want it to be really fun and expensive looking but not be too expensive. I am hoping to make a profit of about $2000.

Have an elimination drawing. Sell 300 or 200 tickets only at $20 a ticket. (Or make up your own numbers depending on how many people you plan on participating or what kind of gamblers they are.) Make sure they are numbered and state on the ticket that winner must be present. Last ticket drawn wins $1000 dollars or a big amount. Every 25th ticket gets there money back. While you are drawing the numbers out sell baskets on tip boards of cheap crappy toys the kids will beg their parents to have. Sell cheap food and soda for a couple of bucks. Then have a 50/50 raffle. Sell these tickets at a dollar a piece or 6 tickets for $5 or 3 tickets for $2. Make them spend more money buy making them think they are increasing there odds.

If you know lots of drinkers, we have clubs here that will give you a certain percentage of there bar tab but you need to reach a certain amount in order for them to give you that. You sell tickets to your event. Door prizes and entertainment are a must. Its a lot of fun...... It works only if you promote and you know people will come and drink at least 2-3 drinks each. Most bars will ask for at least a $5000.00 tab before giving you the percentage. Hope this helps. I've heard many people having much success with this type of fundraiser.

You could have a community dance. Activities for the kids to keep them out of their parents way and refreshments and great music for the adults. You can try to get the hall donated and the refreshments donated and charge a fee to get in.

Along with the dance you could have a silent auction to raise extra money.

A bake sale is always going to get you there quick and it would be fun, grab out a bunch of family recipies or look them up, ask friends, people love to eat, and especially sweet stuff, chocolate is always a plus, any time I walk past a bake sale, I never resist, and when it is for a good cause , harder to resist :)
