From my experience in the dental field, most dentists would prefer to "save" a tooth. Taking out a tooth will effect erruption and will lead to shifting. Once your teeth shift, they will not be in alignment, this in turn can result in TMJ- a painful inflammation of the joint that connects you upper and lower jaws, and there is no "cure" for TMJ.
