The reason I want to use semi permanent on the lengths is that my hair always seems to feel and look shinier and heathier then when I use permanent. However, since I have started to show some greys, I can no longer get away with using semi permanent all over. Also, I end up with "hot roots" no matter what whether I just put it on the regrowth or not. Will 10 volume peroxide cover grey?

is there a reason you're using semi-permanent?

you should leave colour up to the professionals.

but since i know you're gonna do it yourself anyway, i'll spare you the silly hair and tell you how you should do it.

go to SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY and pick out the colour you want. get a bottle of 20 volume developer. you're going to mix the products 1:1, or 2 oz. of each.

now this step is important or you'll have what the industry calls "hot roots" (where the roots are noticably lighter than the rest of the hair)

you want to apply the solution to the regrowth ONLY, and leave that on for 20 minutes. save a little less than half of the solution if you can. after 20 minutes, you're going to pull the colour through the ends, applying more solution as needed. wait another 5-10 minutes, and then rinse.

good luck. email me with questions

There's an amazing new product out now called COLOR WOW root cover up. It's a pressed powder that will cover your gray roots. There's nothing like it.

You just brush it on your roots and it adheres to your hair until you wash it out. The colors blend seamlessly. Check out the live COLOR WOW videos that are posted on the web and you will see how amazing it is…. selling like hotcakes at local salons in the Northeast and select stores like Ulta.
