I'm half-white half-hispanic, and I really don't understand my olive-toned skin. I've only had a sunburn once in my life. I was about 6 or 7 years old, and it was the only & first time in my life I've used sunscreen. I'm tan, but still white (if that makes any sense). I can't burn, and I can't tan.... Anyone maybe know why?

I don't use tan lotion or sunscreen. I'm totally fine with my skin color... I like it. I was just wondering if there is some reason I don't tan or burn. Its weird lol Is there a different pigment in my skin, or is it the mixture of nationalities?

it has to do with your nationality. if your hispanic, i'd imagine you should have a nice tan. sometimes, when you do use sunscreen it makes you more tanner. try using sunscreen and see if it changes anything.

Hi there. Since the ozone layer is depleting, more harmful UVB and UVA rays are coming through. Many studies show that just 3 significant sunburns dramatically increase the chance for skin cancer. Tans damage the skin but the damage isn't apparent until 10-15 years later. So at about 30 years of age the wrinkles and leathery appearance of the skin is irreversible and dramatic.http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/HQ/01462.html Tanning is a symptom of skin damage. Spray tans are safe and don't have the orange effect unless over done. Please stay out of the sun.

My God,your skin sounds gorgeous. I always thought that biracial children always have the most beautiful skin color. Don't try to be like everyone else. Be the beautiful unique person you are! I am a healthcare provider and I can't begin to tell you the amount of skin cancer I see on a weekly basis. Don't age yourself and open youself up to fatal cancer by trying to be like someone else. Exploit the differences you were blessed with. And if you must persist in trying to change: use one of the better fake tanning products on the market. And, believe it or not, I would take your skin tone in a heartbeat.
