Anyone watched the movie or know what it's about?
Something about the power of positive thinking or something..Like if you keep thinking bad things, the cosmos or the universe is going to attract those bad things....
Pretty far stretched but anyone know about it? Couldn't it just be a psychological phenomenon rather than a metaphysical thing..?

No but you've intriqued me.

In Chinese they have a saying, "Choi", meaning kind of like "don't saying something that will give me bad luck".

Hi there,

Is it true? Is it hype? Is it some kind of mass collective phenomena?

My first answer is, who cares as long as it uplifts and changes the lives of people for the better.

But now, for a more in-depth answer!

I would suggest that you do some research into Quantum physics. I know, sounds boring and complicated, but several movies and books out there actually explain what it is, how it works and why it is so relevant to our lives in very simple terms.

The basics of Quantum physics is that at the particle level, at the photon levels, these particles seem to be influenced by the observer (including DNA). The particles reacted to the emotions of the person oberving the experiment! This totally shatters the traditional view that matter behaves in a fixed manner, independent of people.

I would suggest watching the movie "What the Bleep do we know" as a nice introduction to the subject. It is both entertaining and informative and visually extremely well done.

I have also read a book called "The Divine Matrix" which discusses - in plain, easy to understand terms - actual, scientific quantum experiences performed by the army and various scientific bodies. The results just blew my mind!

So lets forget all the hype for a moment and the positive thinking. We are rational being, correct? Quantum physics is showing us that another level of reality exists. A reality were particles can bi-locate - be at two places at once and where split photons still behave as though they were one and the same, even miles apart and where DNA sample still reacts to its owner over 300 miles away.

There is TONS of scientific evidence to support all the concepts put forth in the Secret. I think the Secret simply found a pragmatic way for us to start applying the discoveries of quantum physics into our everyday lives.

Imagine how wild it was when scientists discovered Germs. What a paradigm shift it was for people to come to terms with that it was not an act of the Devil, but that there was a rational explanation. Or that the Earth was round. And so on.

With quantum physics, we are faced with another paradigm shift that we need to wrap our minds around and discover how to best use this knowledge. The Secret attemps to bridge this gap, between our current way of thinking and the new scientific evidence.

Enjoy!

This "new" information has actually been around for years.

Good question. I personally feel it can be both. Psychologically, it is like "positive thinking". Metaphysically, it is rather like prayer or ritual. It is the manipulation of energy (if you believe in this sort of thing...).

It has been put like this: If you are telling yourself or your friends that you have no money, you're broke, that's what you'll experience. It's like putting in an order to the Universe. And the Universe follows certain Laws, and serves you up exactly what you say you are.

Another thought is that prayer, rather than requests, should be thank you's ahead of time for knowing that you will have everything you need.

If it is only a psychological phenomenon, it can't hurt, can it?

The Law of Attraction is not only based in quantum physics it is the way in which the universe operates. Consequently, it is both physical and metaphysical.

What I've seen of "The Secret" is good in that it gives you some basic tools to aid you in making things happen in your life. But if you want something more in-depth, I would highly recommend the film, "What The Bleep Do We Know." It blends the genres of documentary and drama and has some rather amazing interviews with scientists from various disciplines. Quite mind boggling actually but it's also an inspiration and an invitation to create your own reality.

Both are well worth looking at - your time will not be wasted.

I think its an extremely interesting and "heavy" topic when you really think about it...I'm in the process of putting it into practice. I believe it will work, in much the same way that the "placebo effect" works with illness or headaches...Your mind is a very powerful thing !

From what I've read about it, which admittedly isn't much, it sounds an awful lot like "What you send out, for good or ill, comes back to you." The idea of Return is nothing new, they're just putting a new marketing face on it.

i think it makes perfect sense. it was interesting to me that what is put forth in the secret...brings together so many things Ive learned in other areas of my life. for example....in the Pentecostal church i attended...they taught a prosperity message. same theory!name it/claim it and all that. i was very leary of it then...but it must be working for at least SOME of them as this particular church is growing huge FAST! also...little things we have heard throughout our lives like...i got out on the wrong side of the bed(and thus things have been going bad all day) and some people just seem overall "unlucky" or...everything they touch turns to gold. another one...hesitating to say that you are sick or getting sick because if you do...suddenly you definately ARE sick. or...if you claim you havent been sick in sooo long...then soon thereafter...you get sick! again...the name it claim it thing at work!
one last one...how many time have you heard someone say" be careful what you wish for!....expressions like these have come from SOMEWHERE!
think about it :)
