I like this girl at school. I haven't talked to her much in a while, like two months but I get signs that she likes me. She smiles and says hi to me in the hallway, stares at me during class and looks away when I look at her. My friends make fun of me for liking her and once one of them screamed hey, nick your girlfriend is here when she was right in front of me, she still contiuned to talk to me. I also was walking behind her and one of her friends in the hallway once and I heard her friend say, you know nick is walking behind you. Is he going to ask you out, and she says I don't know with a laugh. Then one day I asked her out awkwardly in front of my friends and told me she didn't think of me any more as a friend. However, the next day, she seemed more comfortable around me. What does this mean? Do you guys think that she was kidding when she said no to me and didn't take me seriously. Is there a chance?

It's better to ask her alone, not with her friends listening too. You could ask her to just hang out, like a group outing, this is easier to say yes to.

She might have said no because you were in front of your friends, and she felt embarrassed or afriad.
