No - escape velocity is more evidence to back it up...
Do you think that, when Jesus rose to Heaven as described in the Bible, do you think he bothered reachingt escape velocity? I doubt it - no stone age tribesmen had heard of the concept yet, so they could not apply it to their work of fiction.

Now you've got them trying to figure out what gravel has to do with the space shuttle. Anyway, the Shuttle plays with gravity to stay in a constant state of free-fall around the earth.

Once a certain altitude is reached, the falling motion of gravity transforms into a revolving motion and becomes a satellite. The object is still falling, but because of the curve of the Earth and the weaker pull of gravity, it's just falling at an angle which prevents it from going straight down. It will eventually fall down exponentially faster as it gets closer to Earth if there is no additional thrust added to increase the altitude.
The moon is in a similar situation, but it has enough gravity of its own to prevent it from falling into the Earth.

Yes. Notice the so-called "Space Shuttle" didn't "fly" until Hollywood had discovered CGI? Suspicious? I think so.

Newton recanted on his deathbed. Gravitists are scared because every year more evidence is found to support intelligent falling.

I just saw the darn thing yesterday, behind one raised door (of the 3 they have to open to get it out of the vehicle assembly building at Kennedy) and it looks like it hain't floatin' off to nowhere without them big rockets to bust 'em out.
