Whatever dictionary engine Yahoo uses is considering the following: The term "God" refers to a name, as does "Satan." However, there is also a word "god" which can be used to describe when someone believes in some other "god", other than the "God."
For example: Q: Which god do you believe in? A: I believe in the one and only God.
On the other hand, there is only one Satan, and that is a name. Therefore it must always be capitalized.

Because God mean the specific Christian god, where as god can also be a description of deities from other religions. Try writing God, with the capitals, and see if it tells you that that is mis-spelled.
BTW, for the person who asked earlier, lmao means: 'laughing my a** off'

god satan. ok i just tried it that is weird. the only thing i can think of is Yahoo recognizes Satan as a proper noun instead of a general noun. That IS weird though. Ok I just typed johnson and spell checked it too, and it did the same thing. It MUST recognize Satan as a proper noun.

Satan is a proper name. god is not. God is only a proper name when writing in reference to the Christian God which used God as his name. When i say god I could be referencing any one of several hundred gods.

I don't know about Yahoo's spiritual beliefs, but "god" is both a proper and improper noun, which explains the two spelling options.

I never noticed. I hit ignore and don't capitalize satan because he does not exist. I capitalize God because I think He does exist.

Small 'g' god refers to any god. Large 'G' God refers to 'our' God, as his personal name, much like the Moon refers to 'our' moon.
