ok other than the notorious JUST ASK HIM there are some signs that let you know he likes you or at least likes your company cuz i know how hard it is to just go up to a guy and be like "do you like me?"
-look at his feet, if from across the room his shoes are kinda pointed right at you then that means hes paying some kind of attention to you.
-look at his eyes, guys pupils automatically get bigger if they're interested in what theyre looking at
-his reaction, if hes one of those guys who are constantly fixing his hair or straighting his shirt and he does it when he sees you, that usually also means hes interested
-he smiles at you, since you said he does that normally means that he's happy to see you, one day that you dont go to school ask your friends to watch him throughout the day and see if he smiles at people, if he does he might just be smiling at you to be polite.

dang, don't be shy just ask him if you guys could hang out over the weekend, because if he's to scared to ask you then chances are he won't. Heck, you only live once, whats the worst that could possibly happen. Life is about taking chances its sad that the both of you like each other but don't do anything about it. So take a chance, i wish you well.

i disagree with everyone who said "just ask him"
thats weird?
how would you feel if some guy came up to you becasue you were just staring at him and was like.. "do you like me or something?"

give it some time, AND i think you do like him, because if you didnt, you wouldnt take the time to post and see what people respond if you didnt care if he liked you or not.
SO with that said, you should ask him to hang out, and see what happens! :)

Talk to him and tell him you don't like him in that way. you may hurt him abit but it's ok. He has to know the truth. You just want to be friends with him.

if i don't feel the same way let him down on beacuse if u start dating him and u don't like him it would be like torturing yoself beacuse u r making someone else happy, andu r not happy making him happy.i'd rather be single and happy than taken and sad.so be straight up wit him and ask him if he does and if he says he does let him down easy
