They stated that I won the lottery twice in 2005. The problem is I DIDN'T win the lottery. I have been going round and round with the IRS and with the Virginia Lottery to try and get this resolved. Can anyone give my any advice on how to get this resolved A.S.A.P.?

Did you get a 1099 from the lottery? Maybe somebody else who knew your social security number won and put down your name and ss number - but then you would have gotten a 1099.

For a lottery win that would generate that much in taxes, I'd think there would have to be a signature someplace.

You can call the taxpayer advocate office at 877-777-4778 if you've been trying to get this resolved through normal channels but haven't been able to.

Request proof of payment from the VA Lottery. It's possible that someone used your SSN to claim a prize. The proof of payment from the Lottery should sort that out pretty quickly. That would have been paid by check and they would have a copy of the canceled check with the signature of the person who cashed it.
