My boyfriend whom I've been dating for a little over a month has lung problems. He just found out that he's going to need a lung transplant. I don't know what to say or do to let him know that I care, and will be here for anything for him.

I would imagine he needs you to listen and offer reassurance that you care and are there to support him. If he seems reluctant to open up about his feelings, you could ask gentle questions or make reflective statements like "it sounds as if you feel really overwhelmed ( or whatever emotion), by this...." You can help by going to his doctor's appointments with him, if that's what he wants. He may feel scared for your feelings as well, perhaps that this is too much for you to handle, so if you feel you are strong enough to stand by him through this, communicate that to him.

I'm sorry for your trouble. Did you ask why he needs a lung transplant? Talk to his parents and support him emotionally.

Giving him a lung would probably be the best way to show your love, but if that's too much I would say just be there for him and love him through thick and thin.

sometimes just being there and not trying to talk about it is best. that way he can take it in at his own pace. it will create a less stressful atmosphere.
