This depends on a few things. Price range is key, but if you are willing to spend up to about $20 here are a few.
Norton Ridge Cabernet or Merlot(if you admit to liking merlot). Claiborne-Churchill Pinot Noir, Schug Pinot Noir,
Marquis phillips Shiraz, Easton Zinfandel(red), Bernardus Chardonnay,Laducette Sancere(sauvignon blanc),Yalumba Viogner. You could sip a swwet desert wine like Ramos Pinto Port ot Quady Essencia. The best way is to just start trying some for yourself.

presently enjoying a red blend from Beaulieu Vineyards called Beauzeaux. I don't usually treat wines for me as different than wines I share with others. I work in the wine industry and have tones of wine around and open them whenever I want. I do not need special occassion.

I would probably go for a nice red wine, whatever your preference.

My favorite wine for this is Rombauer Zinfandel. It's great! Nice and peppery and really jammy. It has a really big flavor that holds up well without any help from food. I also like port wine for sipping by itself. I just recommended Dow's 10 year tawny port to someone else a little bit ago. If you haven't had port, it's a fortified wine (has added alcohol in it), so it packs a punch. It's a dessert wine, therefore pretty sweet. The Tawny 10 year taste like chocolate and dried plums to me. YUM!
