This was the question:
Do Atheists celebrate any Holidays?

I got many rude and sarcastic remarks back. Why? I really didn't know and I really wondered. The question was worded exactly as above, I see no rude overtones to it. What is with that?

Sorry about the remarks you got and though we are atheists i think some may participate in some holidays but only for others for example i take part in christmas and that because i like to give stuff to people and make them happy by doing other stuff but i dont support the idea of religion.

Hope it helps and was interesting as i have a habit of going off topic and droning on

Maybe because your question makes no sense. No holidays? like no birthday, or thanksgiving? If you were asking about religious holidays, you should have been more specific. Your question makes it seem as though atheists are heartless, which most aren't.
And yes, many atheists do celebrate religious holidays. I celebrate Christmas because it is not so much the religious part of it for me as getting together with family, and the"spirit of the season".

Why wouldn't we? Did you mean religious holidays? Like your religion? If you could be more specific I could answer better, but I don't skip Independence day just because there is no god.

Now after reading up on you I see you are a Christian. Do you put up wreaths or trees during Christmas? Eggs and rabbits on Easter? Well why do you celebrate these pagan rituals? I celebrate something that looks a lot like Christmas, but there is no Jesus talk. That was a holiday in the middle of winter celebrating the return of the sun and meant to be spent feasting with family and friends long before it was "your" holiday.

Were all of your responses rude or have you simply characterized the responses as rude because you have felt somewhat affronted by the unkind responses? I'd really like the opportunity to assess which ones were rude. I responded to that question, and I don't believe my response was in the least rude, and the few I examined didn't seem so either.

EDIT:
I went back and looked at the question. You had 19 answers. Only the last one was rude. The rest were simply passing on information. I am truly shocked that you found the language there rude or sarcastic in any way.

Here's the link to your original question for readers who want to see what she's referring to:

Yeah they can be touchy...to make the first guy happy, slip in the word "religious" since he obviously doesn't know you mean religious holidays.

Wow, they're still getting offended...try offering some Ramen noodles, that might work.

--Alotta...Charles Darwin was not an Atheist, but a self proclaimed Agnostic...why celebrate his birthday?

Insulting her intelligence is not a wise thing for you to do.

i think this site is a venue filled with many people that are extremely sarcastic and most answers should be taken with a grain of salt.
if you are look'g for TRUE answers to these types of questions you may get SOME here but it is also a good idea to investigate further through other venues church, higher education, books, internet searches...etc. i think that way you'll get a far more well rounded (fact based) answer.
good luck!

Yes, we celebrate holidays. We enjoy time with our families and friends.

Hope that wasn't rude or sarcastic...

The forth of July? Isnt it a rather ignorant question?

If you asked whether they celebrated any religious festivals and why you might have got a more interesting set of answers.
