If you are dedicated, that is plenty of time!

Exercise at least 4 days a week.
30 minutes of cardio and weight training using dumbbells.

The cardio will burn the fat and the weights will make you leaner.

Some examples of weight training exercises:

Jump squats
Lunges
Wall sits
Dead lifts
Crunches
Reverse crunches
Obliques
Back lifts

Two months is long enough to lose 20 pounds- as long as you work for it. So here's the rules...

- Eat a good diet. People think that just exercise alone makes you lose weight, but actually, just changing from an unhealthy diet to a better one can make you lose a lot of weight without going to the gym once! The information I am going to write here is supplied by a food pyramid designed for people trying to mantain current weight or lose weight. It was created by professionals.

- Try to limit sweets as much as possible. Of course it's ok to have an occassional brownie or milk and cookies, but do not overdo it.
- Eat plently of fruits and vegetables. Have an apple every day with your lunch. Try a stir-fry. Remember that fruits and veggies are a must for every meal.
- Eat 5-8 servings of Carbohydrates every day. This includes things like bread, cereal, and rice-not donuts.
- Eat plently of diary and protein. This will give you the energy and strength you need for your workouts. Don't rely completely on meat for protein. Turn to foods like beans, tofu, and rice.
- Don't forget fluids. 6 glasses or more a day is best. You need water. People who drink alot of water have better skin, better health and more energy. You will be overall healthier because of water. So drink up!

So just eat better. Try organic and all natural. Buy from a farmer's market. Whatever goes in will either be made into important nutirents and vitamins you need- or fat. So don't eat popcorn all day just because it has no calories. Don't starve yourself. Just eat an average, healthy diet that gives your what you need.

Next is exercise. This is very important. First, make a goal. Spend more time running than checking your weight. Promise yourself that you will go to the gym at least once a week. Make a comitment.

How do you do it? Go to your local library and rent out exercise programs and Tae Bo tapes. Tae Bo is a great, fun, effective way to exercise and lose weight. Doing sit-ups, stretching, and running on a tread mill all burn calories and keep you slim. Just remember to not over do it.

- Take the stairs.
- Do some sit-ups.
- Stretch.
- Go for a trail ride.
- Do Yoga or Pilates.
- Go to the gym.
- Run or jog in a park with friends.
- Do Tae Bo or Dance Dance Revolution.
- Go for a walk with the dog.
- Sign up for a physical activity.
- Run on a treadmill.
- Start a club with others who want to lose weight.
- Challenge yourself.
- Don't give up.

I hope this helps you achieve your goal. For more details or information you can email me.

Good Luck!

You might be able too, but 15 pounds would be good too.

Remember don't exercise everyday, because muscles need 24 rest period, or they can get fatigued.

Eat healthy, raw veggies, boiled chicken, stuff like that.
Drink 4 or 5 bottles of water a day.

In 15 min your body absorbs only 1/2 the bottle of water, it's okay to drink more, but keep that in mind.
You'll want to absorb about 3 - 5 bottle depending on your build.
Like I'm 5'5', 125, so 4 bottles are perfect for me.

absolutely. eat several small meals a day whenever you are hungry, but do NOT over-do it. eat everything in moderation. don't deprive yourself of the foods you love or will you think of dieting as hell and never follow through. trust me. In June '06 I was 141 pounds. Now, its Feb '07 and I have been between 115-117 pounds since late-August '06! That's 24 pounds! How did I do it? I started substituting soda & sugary drinks for water. I cut out all fast food. It never meant that much to me except that it was convenient, but I decided to eat quick deli sandwiches rather than burgers, pizza, etc. I NEVER counted carbs, points, fats, sugars, etc. Like I said, I ate EVERYTHING I truly loved in moderation. I must also add that I never had much of a sweet tooth, other than the ocassional Italian Ice or carbonated beverage. I was gaining weight by being lazy and eating when I was bored, especially after 9 pm, so I also cut out eating after 8 pm. That's basically it. Oh... and I did not hire a trainer, buy exercise dvds or join any weight loss program. I just used common sense and some restraint. I never starved myself, but I would not eat UNLESS I was actually hungry. Eventually, your stomach shrinks and it will take less and less to fill you up. That's what happened to me. I am back to being the same weight I was in high school. It's great!

**I also kept a "Nutrition Log" which was simply a mini notebook I carried around with me and wrote down EVERYTHING I ate and drank each day. It was a nice way to reflect on my eating habits and see where I went wrong/right that day. It was also nice to refer back to and see how my appetite lessened and I began eating better!

p.s. if you decide to start en exercise program, dont be discouraged if your weight goes up. It's just muscle. It does not mean its not working. You can look in the mirror and see how clothes fit you differently to monitor your progress. Don't rely on the number you see on the scale as your only determinant of weight loss success!! =)

All these answers are good as far as diet and exercise.......but I say don't focus on the 20 lbs. Focus on healthy choices, wheat not white, fruit not sweets, water not soft drinks etc. Then most importantly get a copy of Winsor Pilates 20 minute workout. (I got one on e-bay) you will be amazed as the shape of your body changes with these pilates, all the areas you mentioned will change. Commit to just 3 or 4 times a week at first, then like me you may get hooked and once you see the difference you may actually want to do more. I'll say a prayer for you.

You should aim to lose 1 - 2 lbs/week, so I think 20 lbs is doable. There's really no way to selectively lose weight (short of having lipo). To lose weight you have to do cardiovascular exercises like running, biking, aerobics, etc. Maybe join a gym and ask a trainer to show you the machines so you know what machines will help each body part. Good luck!

On average you should loose about 2 pounds a week, if you eat properly. The key to loosing weight is water intake. I personally hate water, but it is essential to loose weight. You should drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Never skip meals. Try to eat smaller meals instead of 2 or 3 big meals. Another good way to loose weight is to drink a glass of water before you eat. That way you won't eat ask much. I lost 20 pounds in 4 without excercise. If you excercise with your modified diet you should be able to loose 20 pounds in 3 months. But, you HAVE to drink lots of water!

Sure, you can do it, but chances are you are on some diet that's going to make you lose it to fast, and in the process you'll lose some of your muscle as well.

If you really want to lose weight the RIGHT way. Get on a diet and exercise program and aim for around 5 to 6 months.

It depends, do you plan to work out twice a week, 3 times a week? you have to follow a diet and stick to it.
I think that it s up to you how long it will take to lose the 20 pounds.

2007-02-13 10:46:30 · answer #9 · answered by rocio 5 · 0 0

that is plenty of time.
cut down on sugar and fat.
try different forms of aerobic excersize running, swimming, jump rope, etc etc
and do lots of reps with light weights. or do lots and lots of crunches.

you'll want to work out probably about 3 times a week. and stay on task. you may not lose weight but you might lose the inches still. so don't concentrate on the number and instead on how comfortable you feel with your body.
