What should Linux be used for?

I have Ubuntu Linux. And, you know how they say that Mac is for image and video productions and design, Windows is for like work and stuff like that, well, what should Ubuntu Linux w/ Beryl installed be used for?

-Surf safer and be safer from virus and spyware
-Do same tasks as on any OS
-Faster

Use it to download stuff on the internet and not fear of getting a virus.

server, word processor, web browsing... u can do a lot with linux.
