I get two minutes a lap around a 1/4 mile long track and am wondering if that would cut it in Junior High Athletics in 8th grade.

I have improved a bit since then, and another measurement is on a Ten & One I did in the gym i got finished in 45 seconds.

For those of you that don't know a Ten & One is running ten times across a basketball court.

I'm wondering how this would do in Junior High 8th Grade Athletics.

And I am NOT saying that I was sprinting, that run was part of a 15 lap run. so I was pacing myself, if I'd of sprinted it would have been a much lower number!

Sorry, that is not very fast!! But I thionk you are faster than that because the ten and one in 45 seconds is fast???? In 8th Grade 1/4 miler usually runs 63 sec. to 70 sec. Just train during your track season and you will improve!!!

I run junior high track so this coming from someone your age. From the information you have given me I think you can do much better in your 400 (1/4 mile). A 45 second ten and one is very good. By Junior High Athletics, do you mean running track? If you are talking about track and want to know if you're time is good enough. Well just try sprinting a 400 I believe you could at least get a 1:15 lap. You can only find out by running!

If anyone had had a flash light and lunch they would have timed me in Middle school to be a slower runner then that. But you know something you are coming into a time of great changes.

Because of that you can not give up at this time in your life. In middles school I HATED distances and all the cool guys ran the sprints. In high school my cousin thought he was an awesome distance runner and challenged me to beat his times. Not being one to let my cousin be better then me I started to run a little more distances.

By the time I hit my junior year I was running a 15:45 5k. In my senior year I was a state qualifier in the mile and two mile. My best 5k 14:35 at the age of 24. So looking back I think you have the start of being a good runner but you have to love it to be a great runner.

PS My cousin never came close to my times!

for just 1 lap around a track 2 minutes isn't that great but if you are doing multiple runs around the track like in a series without a break then you are doing great but it has to be more than an average of 1 or 2 laps but if you just ran 45 sec of ten and ones then that is pretty dam good

I am a freshmen in high school and i run it in a minute 10 and im usually up in the lead
I think that if you got your time to about a minute 30-35 you should be fine. I have been running since fifth grade and in the fall I was the third place runner in the states for our team in cross-country.
1 minute 30 is good for someone who doesn't run.

2 minutes in one lap would suggest around a time of like 8:30-9:00 for the whole mile.. thats pretty good for 8th grade, yes

hey, two minutes is good for someone of your age, however, it all depends on what you are running. If you are going for distance you want to pace urself and 2 minutes for one lap is an 8 mile pace. thats good but the older you get the btter you will become. For my workouts i try to run 12 laps at 1:30 pace because my races are 3.1 miles and i want to run at a 6 mintue pace. whatever pace you want to run at you should strive to run that time for 1 lap. Do the meth, 4 laps =1 mile

but if u keep trying u will make it
dont listen to the other guy who said u are fast it will hurt u
some fags join track and just play around and they will never get fast
u need to put that dream in ur heart

it isnt too bad. that would be an 8 minute mile. marathon runners get about a 6 minute mile for each mile, which is a great pace.
