Yahoo Answer is a really wonderful. Here for example we are interested in asking and answering religious and spiritual issues, right?
Then first, I don't understand atheists (of course not all!!!because I've notice there are people who came here to discuss) why they come here with their insults, but not they alone!
I like reading peoples commenta and learn more about other religions..but all that with RESPECT! I like when people ask about my religion (Islam) ,about things they cannot understand because it is normal, I for example love to read about Christanity and Judaism and I try to understand, but some are here just to spread hate.
If you don't need to learn more, don't.. but show just a little respect by staying silent.

I know where you are coming from my friend. I have the utmost respect for everyone and will not condemn what they wish to believe, especially if I am clueless (which generally I am NOT). People only see the militant or extremists Muslims and do not understand that Islam is not really a violent religion. There are extremest just about everywhere, but I have yet to find one that is wiccan or Buddhist. But it is human nature to defend yourself when attacked, and it seems that we who practice anything other than Christianity are constantly under attack. I can't speak for Atheists, but think that most of them are rational people. Let me know when you see anyone who is not a Pagan says something nice about witches. Same goes for anyone who is not Muslim saying anything nice about Muslims. I hate to say it, but some people thrive on hate, particularly the youngsters who seem to frequent Y/A (or those with the IQ of a 10 year old).

My dear friend, from a Buddhist perspective you are absolutely right, but may I add another thing from a Buddhist perspective for the benefit of all who read? It's a common teaching within Buddhism that it's far easier to put "leather on your feet rather than leather on the whole world" to make it more comfortable to walk. This is a teaching (not verbatim, I paraphrased) by Shantideva and what I understand he's teaching here is about learning to adapt our minds, to understand that people are people and will do what they do. When we cultivate a calm mind that understands that nobody can hurt us mentally unless we let them, and not be swayed by any "wind" that "blows" our way, we can let them do what they do, with compassion and understanding that they're doing what they do due to causes and conditions... voila... problem solved. People can have their "freedom" (though it's not good karma to be cruel or unkind in speech) to do what they do and you and I aren't worried or concerned.

Just some thoughts from one to another, only for benefit.
