my yorkie seems to get spots or small lumps on his body ,when he had the first one I took him to the vet and he was going to take biopsys and all sorts but I said no.After a course of antibiotics for a wee infec the spots went. Now he has a big spot on his head and one on his neck,i think its caused by getting pricked in bushes etc and get infected so what is best way to treat him ,I dont mind vet bills but i dont want the dog put through unnessesary pain just for a spot/lump,he is bathed every month and i do look after him ,its just vets seem to go over the top with what the cause is.Some people wouldn,t even notice them but I do check him often.

My dog has the same problem. My vet has told us that they are just routine growths that will never go away (unless you have them removed) and they are completely harmless. You should, however, routinely check your dog and make sure that all of his growths are 1) not hard, and 2) not attached to the body (when I say this, I mean they are obviously on the body, but make sure you can feel a difference between the lumps and his regular muscles and tissue - I know, confusing...). If the lumps are hard and attached, you should take your dog to the vet, because this can be a symptom of cancer. My dog has the same kind of thing, and once, she did have a lump that was hard and attached, and it turned out she did have cancer, but after surgery and a lot of stitches, she was fine. Hope this helps!

hi christine... Just get the little fellow to the vets...

We have a Border Collie and shes just gorgeous and well looked after as I'm sure your yorkie is but... a few weeks back she had a few probs so off to the vets we went and she had to have a small op (shes still recovering at the mo), but at the time the vet noticed some small bumps and lumps in addition to the problems we were there for, he asked if he could do a biopsy and I thought well we better find out now rather than later so I agreed, all he did was to insert a small needle & withdraw some "puss" to which he said seemed to be fine ! It was all overwith very quickly and our Collie didn't seem to mind at all.

I'm thinking if you had some lumps or bumps around your body, then you'd be straight down to the docs wanting to know what they were ? and if you needed them removing you wouldn't think twice about it !

If you think it is what it is re getting prickled in the bushes, then the best person to confirm this would be the vets, best get it checked out to be on the safe side eh ?

good luck

noone is going to tell you what you want to hear. at the end of the day the vet has years of experiance and done 5 years study of their subject and you think you know best??? i know that finding out the cause of the lumps will at the end of the day arm you with all the facts of what it is and then be able to treat them correctly. at the end of the day this all leads to you having more time with your beloved pet. i do not dout that you look after him properly (accept a bath a month is a little excessive, your taking all the oils out of his coat!) but vets are there to help you NOT to make money as many people suspect.

You obviously don't want to hear this but letting the vet do tests is the best idea.

It could allow your dog to be treated easily and never have this problem again.

If you don't have the tests and the dog becomes more ill you will feel really guilty.

You should DEFINATELY take him to the vet as this is abnormal.

I don't know how the lumps on your dog look like however I had a friend who found lumps near the back shoulder area of the dog and it ended up being cancer. =(

ok it cant be a sist because even as they look the do not go away till it pops or u decrease it open and drain it(my goat had a million) i proceed to exist a farm. i wager shes having an allergic reaction to at least something it might want to be something she ate or something that's shes were given into. my poodle is allergic to grass and she or he has to get a shot each and each month so she do not whelp up. wish i helped :)

I woudl suggest to do the antibiotics and if this time it doesnt go away it might be a tumor cause my moms friends dog had one on the side and she had to take him for surgery to get it removed.. hopefully thats not that case
