I think I have also become dependent on my glasses..i'm nearsighted(i can't see far away..) When I first got them I just need them in school(overhead, chalkboard, etc.) Now whenever I walk down the street or something, all I see is blurriness, so I know it became worse, and I've become dependent on them...

Eye exercises can help. Many people find that they don't help though. They seemed to help me to stop my eyesight from getting worse when I was about 16. Who knows, maybe it happended by itself and exersises did nothing but this is what I did. This is when I first got my glasses (very small nearsightedness) but I couldn't get used to them. I found some exercises that teach you to relax your eye muscles, and also I've read that eyesight gets worse if you don't use it. It also gets worse if you strain your eyes. In other words, use it but don't abuse it. Relaxation is the key. So I started taking a leisury walk every other day with a purpose to see something far away. I'd spend almost half an hour looking far away and noticing something I didn't notice before. No pressure, no goals, just look and see what you see. (Look without your glasses, but be sure you get there safely first, OK?) I found that the claim that only a relaxed eye can see very far is actually true for me. When I'm looking at a distance but pretend that I don't really care how much can I see all of a sudden I notice a lot of details.
The exercise that helped me the most is relaxing in the arm chair (without glasses), covering my eyes with the palms of my hands (do not press on your eyes or on your face with your hands). You are supposed to see complete blackness. If you see stuff like red circles or white dots this is not real, this is your eyes "making it up" because they are not relaxed. Sit like this and imagine completely black. If it helps you, think of black objects like black shoes, black curtain and so on.

Yes, as we age our eyesight often changes. If you are nearsighted when younger, your eyes will probably improve during your 40's or 50's to the point that you do not need glasses.
There are also eye exercise schemes that promise improved eyesight, and these help for some people.

Ah, well, you are too far down the path... Your eyesight will adjust itself one way or another, so it has gotten worse for you - but it may have improved in some other area that you are not aware of.
Sometimes using a prescription that is too strong will correct eyesight. Sometimes using a prescription that is too weak will correct eyesight.
Nowadays there is Lasik surgery to correct your eyesight for a good number of years...

my mom's eyesight is getting better so it can. you should ask your eye Dr if there is a way to improve it. I wear glasses that go dark when i go outside so i don't have to have separate sunglasses. and when i get my kids their glasses i let them pick out their style there are usually a lot of different ones covered on my insurance.

YES!!!!!!!!!!YOU CAN IMPROVE YOUR EYESIGHT!!!!!THE GLASSES DON'T EXACTLY HELP YOU FIX YOUR EYE, THEY JUST MAKE THINGS CLEARER!!!!!!!YOU CAN TRY INDIAN YOGA FOR THE EYES!!!!!!MY EYESIGHT IS COMPLETELY CURED NOW, THANKS TO THAT!!!!!!!!!!Here is the thing, your eyesight/vision problem is caused by your cornea. your cornea is usually flat like this- I .But, when you put preassure to the eye, it pops up like this- ) . So there is a treatment which includes reshaping lkens which you put on during hte night. the lens push your cornea back to it's normal flat shape. then in the morning, you can see 20/20 vision perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!After a few years your cornea will most likey regain it's normal flat shape, therefore you will no tbe needing and more eyewear!!!!!!!!! go to the sight below for more explanation!!!!!!

You can try doing exercises to improve your vision. I recently started doing eye exercises to try to improve my vision. I created a blog where I record my progress with the exercises.
My vision is 20/400, which is really poor.
I recently saw some improvement. Other people (who have also experienced improvements) have posted comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at: http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog
Hope this helps...

That happens with just about everyone I know, including myself. I started out having to wear them just to read. As my eyes got more dependent on the glasses, they got lazier and I needed stronger and stronger prescription.
When you are old enough look into LASIK. Had it done 7 years ago and haven't needed glasses yet!
