...and hey, I hope everyone can detect the sarcasm in my second sentence. Also, I can't say I am upset by it, but I hear it at school, at work, on TV....it's just mildly irritating.

Lmao. you recognize like degree fright or something, i ended answering questions, relating the know-how about any participant. like the different answerer reported, it comes from the haters lots of the time. and those attempting to be comedians it has develop into an particularly lame be conscious, and used the position it does no longer belong. even even as the Quarterback did a sturdy pastime.. puffed up is yet another one, and followers make more than a number of stuff up. social gathering) Cowboys were 2/2 and they were puffed up.

Can't remember the name of the athlete, but there was one we saw being interviewed on TV who used the word "like" just about every fifth word. We know this, because we Tivo'd it and counted. His ratio of "like" to other words was 1:5. It was incredible.
I took public speaking in college, and the professor threatened to put a shock collar on anyone who had this bad habit, and zap them every time they used the word "like". Prof also encouraged those of us in the audience to repeat the word "like" any time a speaker used it. This made the speaker aware of what he/she was doing.
He did the same thing for speakers who said "ummmmm" a lot or had other annoying verbal tics.

I hear you, drives a person nuts. I have a brother and niece that they use the word "ponder" in every other sentence they say. It goes like this, I have to ponder this for awhile, or, I was just pondering that, or, lets ponder it before we decide what to do.
So, every word can be over used to the point of being plain stupid.

Like do you, like, mean when like, like gets like thrown into sentences like when its like not like necessary?
Yes, I find it annoying. However, when I was growing up my parents and grandparents would correct me whenever I made grammatical errors the moment I made them.
I do not have perfect grammar by any means, but at least I try.
I find it annoying because it seems to indicate that many people either haven't bothered to learn or have and don't bother using their education - what a waste.

I agree. Also for people who say "Um" or "Uh" every other word while talking or giving a speech. And "You know" or "like i said". It's an automatic reflex to fill in a gap when your brain lapses when trying to think of what to say.

it's somewhat like the word 'ummmmmm' or 'uhhh' it's just a place holder when they can't find something to say. instead of just shutting up...and enjoying the sec of silence until the word pops up, they say 'like.' it IS irritating when over used...especially if the person if over...say 16!
