Snowed in; partner's sick. He seemed to have a cold last week, but symptoms seem more flu-like (including nausea and vomiting) this week. He's weak and needs more calories. Have limited supply of Ensure; he needs something easy to swallow that's calorie dense that I can concoct from items we have here. Ideas? Thanks!

Calorie-dense: we're talking fat and sugar. Look at the nutrition labels on food packages and look for high fat and sugar content. Pasta is another one. Adding butter or oil is a sure way to boost cals. Someone also mentioned honey. Make sure he's staying hydrated, too. If he's vomiting, he's loosing fluids, as well as whatever he's eating. Feed him soup broth, fruit juices, even sodas, and especially water. Honestly, he sounds pretty sick. I'd get him to a doctor if you can.
