I've been going out with my boyfriend for less than a month, we started going out on January 29th, 2007. We've known each other since we were like 10. And he told me today that he put me as the beneficiary in his life insurance. I really like him and I just wanna know your opinions on this... thanx :)

I know what it means literally, about the me getting everything if something were to happen to him. I just mean emotionally. And he is pretty close to his family as well.

We've been friends for as long as we've known each other, so like I said since we were 10.

I think it is cool. My life insurance beneficiaries are my two best friends and then my little sister. So long as he got his policy from work for 'free' then it is no big deal. It just means that he feels that if he should die in some freak accident or something, his life insurance money would be best placed in your hands, so that your life could be a little easier, and to some extent, your friendship/partnership would carry on after his passing.

You didn't say how long you were friends. If it's been a long time then he may think of you as a life long friend and think you deserve the money when he dies. It's his money, so if you feel comfortable about it don't worry about it. If you don't want the money if the occasion should arise then you can give it to his family or donate it to a charity.

The first thing that came to my mind is that in some way he is trying to buy you. (insecure, lonely, controlling?) don't accept unless you are truly committed to him and him alone. Wait a year, if you both feel the same then go for it and thank your lucky stars. A month is just too soon to make such a major decision. Good luck.

It means he likes and trusts you and didn't have a family member he felt was more appropriate to make the beneficiary.

It is just I way of testing you. If you kill him then he will not make the mistake of marrying you. Marriage is a very serious thing and the consequence of marrying the wrong person can be worse then death.
It is a good sign that he loves you.

uhh either he's really sweet or really creepy and controlling. My ex did the same thing and then he ended up getting my name tattooed on him. So just be careful.

If he were to die tomorrow, you would get the benefits (or money) from his life insurance policy.

It is totally up to him. If he changes his mind he can always change it later.
