Who said that? He has a plan for our lives. We can either accept His plan, or deny His plan and go our own way. The thing about that is that disobedience to God always ends the same, YOU IN A MESS that you created for yourself ! As far as thwarting His plan, He knows already what will happen if you follow His plan, and what will happen if you do not follow His plan. Better to follow and be obedient, things always turn out better. But you DO have free will.

It is not true that God's plans for you cannot be thwarted. Do you think it is God's plan for you to become a thief, murderer, child molester. I'm not calling you one, but if you were to become one it certainly would not be God's plan. We have the free will to live God's plan for our life or our own plan.

Why would anyone want to thwart their own salvation if the Holy Spirit has opened their eyes?

Lets say that You live in New York and I live in California and I am coming to visit you. I tell you that I will be at your house on March 15 and I am leaving today. I decide to take a southern route to your house and along the way I make several stops, detours if you will. Many things happen to me during my trip. But on March 15, I still arrive at your house.

That's kind of how I believe God works. He knows where I am and where I am going. But He lets me decide which way I want to go, which turns I will make. He knows if the way I am going will cause me problems, and He still lets me go that way.

But don't worry, You won't see me on March 15. :-)

Free Will?
God is everywhere and in all creation. We all are a part of God - that's how I see it. God's love allows us to experiment, yet, in the end, the goal is always God's will.

We can make it easy for us and listen to God's will, or we can give us our own experiences, one way to learn. Yet, we cannot fall out of God's presence, since God is in all creation. In the end, all will be with God.

Free will on God's path? Yes, human detours included.

You have the free will to choose to not accept God.

Alternatively, you can choose to scream or not as you're being killed, it won't change what's going to happen but you do have a choice.

you can choose to thwart, reject really, God's plan for your life.
that is free will.
God's plan is not forced upon you.
neither is spending an eternity in Heaven.
you can refuse that Gift of God, too.

~ Yes, we really DO have FREE will.

God would rather we make godly choices, but He knows we are weak... without His help, it would be even worse.

The closer you are to the Lord, the clearer you will hear His still, small voice... after all, He is a gentleman... He won't yell at us... but, we have to be quiet and listen for His direction in our lives.

Deuteronomy 1:17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; [but] ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment [is] God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring [it] unto me, and I will hear it.

Yes you idiot, here's an example, just because I KNOW you will say something stupid, doesn't mean you are, you have free will to try to be intelligent. same way with God. Just because He knows what you are going to do- He doesn't try to stop it. Thus free will. If He didn't let you be so damn dum and stopped your actions, then you wouldn't have free will.
