It's really hard for a child to deal with their anger and frustration because they are so emotional.

I think that you should show your child better ways to deal with anger. Here are some examples: taking deep breaths and counting to 10, writing, drawing, stretching, just leaving the room for awhile, screaming into a pillow, or even just kicking a soccer ball around.

Punching walls and throwing things should never be done. Children do what they see, so make sure that you set a good example, and talk to your child about dealing with anger when they aren't already angry.

OMG please do not enhance your childs anger by smacking them, this will only bring you down to a bad level, you should be commended for asking the question! Trying to validate your child by finding an answer!!!
Find the source, I know it is easier said then done, but there are Play Therapists that will find the source of the problem with the use of what a child does best, research the Play Therapy. It really makes a child angry to not be able to express themselves and they know how to play, it will come out in their play, they will also teach them to find ways to work thru the anger, and how to express themselves.

Where is your child learning this behavior. Don't buy into anger and don't humiliate either. Just wait it out. Some children seem to have a problem with the word NO. Check it out.

WOW. Please don't resort to medication and don't just ignore them. It would be helpful to have more info in order to help you more but something is bothering them and the anger is coming from somewhere. Make sure he isn't exposed to anger or violence by you or your spouse. Kids are led by example. When he is angry, let him take the time to calm down. when you feel it's taken over you, take 5 minutes to yourself then tackle the problem. Don't respond with anger, that could be where it's coming from.

Key thing is LISTEN to your child! Most kids don't just get angry for no reason. Speak to them, ask them what is bothering them. Tell them to use their words to help you understand so you can help them. Don't try to do this in the middle of a tantrum. Talk to them when they are calm and ready to talk to you not when they arre balling their eyes out. Depending on their age, are you too controlling? Does he want to do things that you don't allow him to try? Get him involved with your daily activities, spend one on one time with him. Really get down to his level to help you understand him better - it'll make the solution more effective.

Who is the parent ?? the child or you ...tan his backside ,teach him he has to act like he has got sense.. that kind of behavior is not acceptable at any time.. You have to be Firm ,and consistent, he has probably gotten this way because he is not used to the word NO , Remember if he grows up ,and looses his temper, and goes on a rampage , you contributed to this type of behavior, for not being a good parent, and properly training your child how to behave

ignore it, if you so much as look at the child he/she will know that the behavior is getting you attention and what he/she is doing is working. give it a few weks and you will notice a diffrence.
