Humanity had to remember everything good to eat, and bad to avoid, which animals are safe and which are not, and that's quite a lot to remember to survive. The list of things to remember is amazing, and then there is seasons, so that means remembering when and where food would be at a given time of year. So humans studied the sun and moon, and stars to help remember things, then someone wrote down stuff and the ball really got moving! - untill we have the tools we have today.
Most of our tools are used to remember, transfer data from person to person. Others tools store food, etc.
If you can't remember important data - you usually die - well today this only applies to medicine, and dealing with animals but it is still true.
LOL, I do not think this qualifies as an intelligent answer so much as a rambling, but there are no bible quotes!
I guess I proved my mind is not complex, as Derek noted.

Actually, from a Buddhist perspective, the human mind is empty of inherent existence (i.e. arises due to causes and conditions, exists due to the moment of mind before the present moment and so on), therefore it isn't really all that complex. The concepts we attach to the "mind" really aren't mind. Mind itself is quite clear and not "complex". Many people THINK that all of the significant amounts of information and "stuff" out there is mind... but it's really not.

Extremely strong selection bias for intelligent humans since we are physically inferior to non-sentient animals (ie, no claws, sharp teeth, etc.) The growth in brain size in humans was very rapid (in terms of evolution)..

The human mind didn't evolve it was created as a complex structure.

Maybe we have a kind of symbiotic relationship with our inventions and tools. It keeps track of history.

We ate the fruit. We gained the ability to know all that God knows. Some of us use it to serve God, others still follow the original deceiver.
