It's more likely to cause a LOW red blood count--anemia. Women who have very heavy flows can lose enough blood to get anemic, and some need iron supplements or meds to address the anemia.

But high red blood count--never heard of it from menses. It could happen...but I've only heard of the opposite.

I've never heard of high red blood count from it. I have had extremely low counts though.
