It's a good, old-fashioned, double standard.

They'd pitch a fit if I started quoting from the Poetic Edda.
I don't (unless the question specifically asks about it) because I know myself I do not like seeing answers that are solely quotes from holy books. I'd rather read what the person actually thinks. A quote here and there is fine. I'm talking about were they are just copy pasting.

I think it's neat. I just get frustrated when they don't identify it or ask a question, so I don't even know where it came from or how to answer. That's annoying. But I've seen some stuff out of the Koran on here, and I thought that was neat.

Probably because the unbelievers are posting things they dont believe in and are quoting out of their ignorance and misunderstanding. Also that atheists have this arrogant assumption they can properly interpret OUR holy book.
Interpreting Gods word takes more than just raw human reason, it takes a heart and desire for God, as well as Gods spirit; things the atheist do not have.

Because that's their "handbook."
They have to be able to feel confidant about quoting book and verse, or they lose their grip on the planet. It is what holds their world, their belief system, their philosophy together. It is....the "glue," and without it there is only chaos for them.
Be nice to them if you can; you expect no less from them.
I make no excuses for their behavior; I'm just saying we all have to have a blade of grass to hold on to....

My understanding is that all parties are open to post whatever they please, so long as it follows community guidelines. This is, after all, a secular forum. And hey- the controversy seems to be what keeps us all coming back day after day.

Because they hate the fact that their own source of "information" proves them wrong. They are in denial and get mad when someone reminds them that they are wrong. It's like what a 5-year-old child would do.
