Gary Alt introduced new antler restricions and a 2 week doe season that was combined with buck season a few years back in PA......I want to know what people's opinions are on this and if you (the readers) feel it was for the better and if the regulations should be continued?

Sometimes it's not about having an antler addiction or as you put it (eating the antlers), I always hunt for mature buck because I find it to be a lot more challenging, I could shoot a doe any day out of the week with a bow or a gun.....and in my opinion, there is no way PA will ever become a desired state to hunt for mature white tail buck with nice scoring antlers....at least not any time soon, maybe 20years from now, but as long as Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Saskatchewan, Texas, Montana, etc remain on the globe, that is a far fetched tail....but I totally resent the two weeks of doe and feel it needs to be cut back and separated from buck season.....

Gary tried to implement trophy whitetail management across a whole state like some private property owners do. I'm a non-resident property owner and in the area where my hunting camp is, the only difference I've noticed is a lot less deer, not bigger bucks. I quit hunting in Pa. and hunt Tennessee as an out of state hunt. I can buy a license and get the same tags as the residents. It's funny that I have to pay my taxes when residents do but have to wait till 2 weeks after the residents apply for an anterless tag and then pay more on top of the non-resident license. When Alt saw his plan wasn't working he bailed out.

The only reason antler restriction was started in PA is they are hoping to make big money off larger deer. They do not care about the average PA hunter they are looking for out of staters $. As far as the restriction some people like I don't eat antlers so I don't care for it. i like the old way separate buck and doe, especially for younger kids I think it teaches them to look at what they are shooting first.
