I would suggest that you contact your local volunteer center. They specialize in connecting people and groups with volunteer opportunities that meet real community needs. Volunteer centers work with many of your local non-profit agencies to screen some of the best projects that can make the most impact.

For example, my volunteer center worked with the local library system to host a twice weekly "Kid's Night" where we have volunteers tutor the children with various homework subjects. Another project we work on is in conjunction with the local Food Bank, packaging food for the needy.

There are hundreds of different things that can be done, and there's always something that matches all of the disparate interests from the diverse community out there.

You can find your volunteer center through these links:

Good luck with your project!

Original ideas for your community are created in your community because every community has different needs. Your teens are an excellent source for information, ideas and cooperation.
