Plato compered the element of reason to a man, the spirited element to a lion and the bodily appetites to a many-headed dragon. The problem of achieving integration in the soul is how to persuade the lion to help the man to keep the dragon in check.
I like to believe in the same, that we are 'three in one'. But the difference is that soul is the only thing that connects us to the other world; I mean that our body will stay here and the only thing will stand infront of God is our soul.
Some may say there is also mind, but mind (and not the brain) is not something physical, but I cannot figure out if it can be a part of the soul?
I also found the possibility after reading some things about dimentions (21, or infinite number), that soul exist in some other dimention we as human wont be able to figure it out.
Plus, I think that soul is the only thing human will never discover it's like the secret of God.

This question has been debated by some of the greatest minds in history, and still no one is truly any closer to knowing the truth. Personally, I think the 'soul' is that part of the human being that is the Divine, and that is found within every part of the body. I also believe that animals have 'souls' also, but perhaps in a different way than we do. Since all beings have the "spark of the Divine" within them, then the soul becomes part of the identical twins, each with their own 'soul'. As to where the sould originates from...it comes from the Divine, in whatever Form you see that...

i believe the soul to be the part that existed first and will exist afterwards
it is our consience , our heart , our compassion ... all those qualities that make us human
it is energy , it is our higher self
it is our aura , what makes us
i do not feel humans are the only ones with a soul ... but our soul makes us unique , a dogs soul makes the dog unique etc
with twins , they each have a soul ... that spark that takes over in development stages when a bond is made with the mother , when it is more than just a chemical reaction
the soul comes from the great energy ... the energy that is part of us and the energy we return to ... for some this is what God is

It is what remains when the matter holding it can no longer sustain it.
In other words, it's not a physical thing, it is your pure self which is energy, for lack of a better term and as you know, nothing that exists was created and it cannot be destroyed, it only changes. This has a scientific basis as well as an esoteric meaning.
It is the being which is you that you cannot see with your eyes, because soul doesn't see with eyes, it just knows and those who know this for themselves, know this for everyone else, but it is the knowledge that cannot be taught.
you just know you are and that you will continue, don't you? After everything else has gone? Be honest with yourself, by yourself, find yourself, know yourself. Then you will know all.

The soul is what makes you be alive. I senses things like when people are staring at you form a distance. Its the explination for everything supernatural. the soul developes after birth so with twins it wont matter. You can tell if aniam has a soul if it expresses love. Ive never seen a loving fish so they must not have souls.

It is what people consider to be the self within themselves. It basically is the sum of all of your senses and learning. That is all. If you start to take away experiences/knowledge you are no longer you. We change dramatically over the years due to learning and each of us can say without a doubt that we are not who we were when we were born. We may have certain propensities due to the original plan of our brains but there is no us afterwards. If there were would it make sense to leave a dead "soul" trapped in a brain dead body?

The soul is Mind, will, and emotions. As for identical twins, they don't develop souls until they separate.

No one has the answer to that question. The best we can do is shut our thoughts up, and try to listen to whatever's left when we take our ideas and concepts out of the equation.
