ey, don't worry, navy bootcamp : shut your mouth, do as your told, and you'll get through ok.

phone calls: sometimes. probably not at first, because the first few weeks are hell. but then things start easing up a bit and you'll find a bit of time for the pay phones.
you'll also have mail call once a week, so you'll be able to send and recieve letters.

you're gonna end up in a co-ed division most likely, so you'll be working side by side with other boys. it'll be intimidating at first, but you'll get used to it. honestly, the girls there can get away with murder.

what you should do to get ready: run, work a lot on your cardio, do a bit of weight lifting, pushups, situps, if you don't already know how to, learn how to swim. learn to recite the sailor's creed in your sleep, and learn your 11 general orders forwards and backwards. don't leave out or modify a single word in either of them or there will be hell to pay. also, it'll be a good thing to know your current chain of command at the recruiting station. it'll help you out when you get to bootcamp. other then that, learn your basic commands, keep your head up and back straight (i always get yelled at for that one). overall, just practice this stuff. after a while everything becomes second nature. don't worry. we're not the army. we're not the mairnes. it still won't be easy, but you should be able to graduate no problem.

i got buddies that are seals and even my recruiters will say this: that "back in the days" when they were in bootcamp, they'd yell, scream, and beat you. now a days, you can raise your hand and call time out when you run out of breath. lol. not exactly true, but you get what i'm saying. :)

good luck to you and kick butt out there. make us women look good and serve our country with pride. :)

well it wasn't pretty bad. Its bad for me because I joined the navy seal. But before that I had to go through the navy first. It is just like normal boot camp, you know army and stuff. You should check the navy website for more info on training. Well you should be able to get into the navy but the height really limits somethings you can do. Yes being 5'0 is really challenging. You must meet a specific weight in order to be in the navy. I don't think 94 is the requirement. 100 should be the level, I am not sure, but check the web site or ask a recruiter. First weeks of boot camp, no calls, no mail, no contact with anybody outside. Your not going to have time for those things anyway. If you are out of shape then you should get into shape. Like after the three weeks, you can relax a little and you will start to have that time. Your bf will have to wait for maybe two or three weeks before hearing from you.

You must train your endurance in all parts of your body.

Eat right! No more junk food. Be prepare to eat anything they give you. For me, when I am training for the SEALs, they made us eat worm or other insects for survival. But navy boot camp is not going to make you do that.

Sleep at the right time and wake up with energy.

Learn to swim if you do not know. Swim at least 3 times a week to build your lungs up.

Get your physical examination.

Your sight and your hearing got to be perfect.

After that, you should be okay. Thats what I call a person when they are in shape. Good luck! If you need anything else or need more info, email me at wordsof1poet@yahoo.com

When you get to boot camp, you will be in what they call P-days, you won't get to call home until the 2-1 day. All the weeks are numbered, and so are the days, you 1-1 day is your first day of training. Phone calls are on the master schedule, so you will know when you are getting them, about one a week after the 2-1 day. They have a phone center with lots of phones. Size does not matter. You will PT every day expect Sunday, during the winter you will PT in the drill hall. Lots of running that sort of thing. And yes you will spend a lot of time in class, about 75% of the time. Know how to swim. The hardest part is at the end, Battle Stations, a 24 hour drill, you have to pass that to move on. Just do what you are told and you will be fine. Hope that helps. God Bless, and Good Luck

if your hair is anything like it is in your avatar, cut it. short. Navy's the only branch of the military that makes its females (and you'll get called that too) cut their hair. You'll get to write letters.

Also, memorize your phonetical alphabet. Navy's the most classroom-intensive of the armed forces.
