I am a teenager. A female. And very girly and atleast I think I;m pretty which people have told me. So now you know that I am the typical preppy high school girl. You would never guess that my dream career is to be a Airline Pilot. It runs in my family, like my uncle was a private pilot for John Travolta for 15 years but anyway. It's not hard to figure out that an Airline pilot is totally not a "women's" job and that there are not alot of women in it, yet preppy ones. I want to know if you think i am waisting my time dreaming about a career that no body will support me in????

You are not wasting your time if you're doing something you really want to do. I sugest that you follow your heart. The ones you love will suport you. I know many women that fly planes, so just follow your heart and if you really want to be an airline piolot, then you'll become one. If someone makes fun of you then they probably didn't try hard enough to be what they wanted to be and just ignore them.

These days, there is no job that is "not a woman's job".
You have to do what makes you happy.
You can either ignore people's responses when you tell them, or you can name some other 'dream job' if they ask. But you cannot let your future revolve around anyone else's sexist notions.
You have to do what works for you. No one no one no one will have to get up and go to your job every day but you, and no one but you should decide what is should be.

No, I certainly don't think you should give you your dream. Make your dream become your goal and go for it. You may have to try harder to prove that you are serious, but if you are intelligent and don't give up easily, then I think you'll be able to do it. And one other thing . . . . if you pursue this as a goal, then never be afraid to go outside your comfort zone, because achieving this particular dream may mean you'll have to do just that!

WHO are (for the most part) the people who don't support you? are they family members?close friends?those are the people who can hurt you the most (negativity abounds)listen...if you do not have some kind of goal for yourself and you allow others to carve out a goal for you...they will never let you forget what they have done for you...pursue your dreams young lady...if you are passionate about them and realize them you are well on your way to achievement.
