i was feeling rather sick the other day and I went to get nyquill and for the first time ever I needed an id check for it. Oh and I feel better now.

For two reasons:
1. The alcohol content in Nyquil is so high peopoe abuse. Underage kids will buy it and literally will drink the bottle of Nyquil.
2. It can be used to make illegal drugs (methemphetamine).

Some teenagers are abusing Nyquil as a drug. I've seen ads on tv about it.

Too many drugies are using such over the counter meds to add crap in drugs. They are starting to keep databases of people's names/addresses and what over the counter medications they are buying. You can thank the asshole teenagers in MD who got caught in a meth lab with 100's of boxes of tylenol cold an flu.

Well now you need ID's because kids buy them and drink most of the bottle to get high. Not sure but I think one kid had to go to the hospital or died of something like this.

because young kids have discovered that they can get messed up in a good way if they drink a bottle or two. It's the same reason you have to be 17 to purchase rubber cement.

Local laws. It's for one of 2 reasons (I don't know which city you live in so I can't say which one, for sure.
1. The alcohol content is too high

2. They don't want you using it to make crystal meth.

Well in Oregon they do that with medicine that has DXM or stuff with the name pseudo in it...like Sudafed. Because Oregon has such a bad Meth problem and those are important ingredients in meth. Also..DXM can be used to get high..."robotripping"

Probably because immature teenagers and younger children buy it knowing they can feel good if they drink enough of it, and it is harmful for them to do that.
