Are we saved the very first time we believe or is it a continuing process of believing?

Salvation is a gift given once and received once. A coninuing process of growth in our Christian walk should be the result of our salvation.
I believe that once a person exercises saving faith in Jesus Christ, he or she is forever in the family of God. God never kicks anyone our of his forever family. A number of Scripture passages support this view. For example, in 1 Corinthians 12:13 we are told that at the moment of salvation the Holy Spirit places us in the body of Christ. Once we are infused into the body of Christ, we are never excised from the body. In fact, Ephesians 1:12 and 4:30 indicate that at the moment of believing in Jesus Christ for salvation, we are permanently "sealed" by the Holy Spirit. At that point, we are God's everlasting property. That seal guarantees that we'll make it to heaven.
Moreover, we read in John 10:28-30 that it is the Father's purpose to keep us secure despite anything that might happen once we have trusted in Christ. Nothing can snatch us out of His hands. God's plans cannot be thwarted (Isaiah 14:24). Further, Romans 8:29-30 portrays an unbroken chain that spans from the predestination of believers to their glorification in heaven.
Another fact we need to keep in mind is that Christ regularly prays for each Christian (Hewbews 7:25). With Jesus interceding for us, we are sucure. (His prayers are always answered!)
Of course, the fact that a believer is secure in his salvation does not mean he is free to sin. If the Christian sins and remains in that sin, Scripture says that God will discipline him or her just as a father disciplines his children (see Hebrews 12:7-11).

Good question! We are saved the moment we believe and accept Christ as Savior. Then we progress in salvation through a continuing fellowship with Him. We are saved (an actual event), we are being saved (an ongoing relationship) and we will be saved (a literal destination). There are those who believe that you can get saved once (the event of asking Christ into your heart) and then go out and live like the devil and still get to heaven. This is not supported by Scripture in any form, fashion or way. It clearly teaches that we must continue IN the Person of Christ. He will not live in a sin filled vessel. Salvation is about receiving the blood of Christ and living covered by that blood - that is why He is called both Savior (salvation) and LORD (ongoing relationship). If the Lord part is severed it will not be long before we completely die in our sins again. Paul told the Galatians --- that Christ may be FORMED IN YOU AGAIN. Again means He was once there and now He is not there - therefore the word "again." God Bless as you Continue in Him!

I believe "once saved always saved IF truely saved." That is that becoming a christian isn't just signing a dotted line and then living a life without God.

When you become a Christian, you submit your life to God, you put your trust in Him and he will not let you go, he will hold on to you.
When you become a christian, you receive the Holy Spirit who lives in you and allows you to live a godly life.
Obviously there might be times when you will stray, but he will always bring you back eventually if you are truely saved.

So yes, you are saved the very first time you believe, but it's also a continuing process.

Hope I've helped :)

The first time we truely believe we are saved. But once you believe you always believe. A lot of Christians doubt their salvation during different times in their lives. Here is a link to an apologetics class I took that talked about it. Hope this helps.

Romans 10:9-
because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

You are saved at that moment. The problem is some people say it, but don't actually believe it. That's where FAITH steps in. If you believe, there is no need for a process. Just act on your belief.

Well, i am christian too, but i got saved a couple months ago, and i looked in my bible and it says to be technaly saved, you have to
-admit to God that you are captive of sin and have not followed his path for right living,
-Believe that the Creator of the world loves you and sent his only Son Jesus to take the penalty for your sin,
-Confess " Jesus is Lord' Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Than you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

so i think tht\at i belived that pretty much my whole life but one day i just confesses to God and from that day foard, my relationship with Him keeps getting better and better, so i say, that that day, i was saved.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it it the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Also look at John 12:25-26
and Ephesians 2:1-2

hope this helps

you are saved from the very first time you believe. But belief without faith is like this. A person is in a burning building but manages to get to the exit door but then refuses to go through to the outside. and yes if you decide to unbelieve you are at that time unsaved.

U r saved when u ask to be saved. if u believe u will ask for Him to save u if u really believe. He will save u when u ask Him to. I believe that U never lose ur salvation once u ask for it. i have doubts sometimes though but thats just the devil tryin to get to u. i have learned that.

It is a myth.No religion can save you.One day you too will die like every living thing in this world.Do not entertain the myth that you will live forever in another world.Come out from that wishful thinking and make best use of your present life.

This is a very interesting and deep question and I'm glad you asked, this way I took my time and searched for an answer that has, at least, enlightened me on the matter.

I would copy some of it here, but I better just paste the link. This page is great. Has a detailed analysis on salvation, keeping it... losing it? regaining it? I enjoyed it, hope it answers your question:
