I efiled on Feb. 3rd. When I check the status on irs.gov, it's just saying refund by the 20th? Last year I got my refund in 9 days. the status has not updated yet. So when do they update your refund status, with the specific date to deposit?

If the system is saying the 20th then that is when you are getting your refund.
There were some computer problems and that delayed some returns from being processed

I efiled on 2/2 and when I go to the irs website it says that my return is being processed it should be deposited by 2/20, the other half of the time it doesn't come up with anything. I call and it says by the 20th as well...so I think the website is still messing up. I am hoping that means they will be depositing it on the 16th and since it takes some banks a few days to clear it will be there BY the 20th. I'm not sure if it will ever update to accepted or give any other information. I claimed the telephone tax and EIC so I am hoping it isn't delayed like some peoples. Let us know if yours is updated.

I am in the same boat as you. I efiled Feb 1 and my status is still saying Feb 20...it has not updated yet for me either. Last week it updated on Tuesday for my daughter's refund....I can't figure out what is going on! According to the efile refund chart, we should be getting a direct deposit on Feb 16 which is this Friday. They don't do deposits on Tuesdays so I don't know why it still says Feb 20 since that is just the projected date they gave us in the beginning. Ugh! Last year I got mine in 6 days!

I filed on 2/3 as well. Mine was updated this morning from being processed and should be deposited by the 20th to being deposited on the 16th and if it isnt there to call them. Hope yours was too.

If you e-filed it comes back the second Friday after you filed. So you should receive it on 2/16. If you do not contact you tax preparer. Sometimes the IRS holds them for a week at this time of year because they are so overloaded.
My boyfriend has owned a tax business for years.

I want to say check on Fridays. If I remember right from last year that is when they send out any refunds...each Friday

you need to give it 10 business days. you should have it by 2/16
