Depending on when you mailed it, currently Passport is opening passports rec'd in their office as of mid December, the processing is anywhere from 40-60 days to be completed. If the passport is needed ASAP PLEASE PLEASE go to your Member of Parliament, we (work for 1) can place a rush on it considering we have a eticket or the physical tickets and the date of travel is less then 4 weeks. It is (*&#@&@( fustrating from all ends. I wish you luck!!

The ballpark number is 45-50 business days for processing. Add another 3-7 on each end for mail.

Be careful though - certain passport centers REQUIRE that the person named on the passport document either show up to make the application or to pick up the completed document - preferably both. This is to add a 'visual check' that the person getting the passport is who it says on the document.

Here is a link to the Passport Canada website. The processing time is updated all the time. Please note the 25 days is in ADDITION to normal processing time. (not including mail time)

It looks like by mail, 45 days (not including mail time) right now if you sent it in,

I mailed mine in, but it is too early to get back. 13 business days and counting.

The delay is currently 25 business days on top of the 20 business day average process time. (45 business days)

I have a co-worker who mailed hers in at the start of December and is still waiting to get it back (and she needs it to go to a conference next week!).
