how do you keep a pdf from showing up on the screen everytime you convert something to a pdf?

everytime i print to an adobe pdf, the adobe program opens itself up.

I don't think you cannot turn that off in Adobe Acrobat. Some of the other PDF makers can though. Like www.pdf995.com
