You rethink your beliefs because you have never known Christ.

I go through times of rethinking my beliefs as a Christian - often after having much contact with "my way or the highway" fundamentalist, judgmentally Christians, which, granted is a small group, but very vocal and very hateful sometimes. I am a Christian (and yes, I know Jesus... and still have a mind to question) - who finds much enlightenment in Native American spirituality, and some Wiccan ideas. I find it interesting to interweave these different beliefs into something which encompasses my true beliefs - not something which is dictated to me. The God Spirit of my understanding is bigger than one religion.

*I was in and out of many denominational churches from birth till I was 24 and then I spent the next 25 years simply as a Christian only, but the last several years I have been pagan. Wicca is my religion. *

I haven't decided. Agnostic close to atheism, with beliefs that take something from Quakers, Pantheism, Judaism and C of E Christianity.

Im not sure. I lean towards Islam but not Christianity. Christianity was forced upon my people long ago and I no longer wish to follow what oppressors forced my ancestors to follow.

When asked this question, I tell people that I am a Frisbytarian.

We believe that when you die, your soul gets stuck on the roof like a Frisby.

What you really need to address is your inner conflict with Religion and Spirituality.

Religion:
Religion is the adherence to codified beliefs and rituals that generally involve a faith in a spiritual nature and a study of inherited ancestral traditions, knowledge and wisdom related to understanding human life. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to faith as well as to the larger shared systems of belief.

Spirituality:
Spirituality, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit. The spiritual, involving (as it may) perceived eternal verities regarding humankind's ultimate nature, often contrasts with the temporal, with the material, or with the worldly. A sense of connection forms a central defining characteristic of spirituality — connection to something greater than oneself, which includes an emotional experience of religious awe and reverence. Equally importantly, spirituality relates to matters of sanity and of psychological health. Like some forms of religion, spirituality often focuses on personal experience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can be Spiritual without being Religious. You can be Religious without being Spiritual.

If you are having problems with the two-faced representations of people who claim to be religious yet cheat, lie and steal, then your problem is with the Religion, not yourself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

"World" Religions:
There are many, long established, major world religions, each with over three million followers. We have shown the five largest North American religions in bold:

Baha'i Faith

Buddhism

Christianity;
Christian groups, denominations and families
(Amish to The Way)

Confucianism

Hinduism

Islam

Jainism

Judaism

Shinto

Sikhism

Taoism

Vodun (Voodoo)

Find a faith group that matches your beliefs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you do a little research on most of the above Religions, you will find many, many similarities in core beliefs.
--------------------------------------------------------

I know, this really did not help you much.

You have to find your inner peace by yourself.

I am a Wiccan. It's probably one of the most misunderstood faiths out there. What you think you know about it? You probably don't.

A relatively objective (non-Wiccan) article on what Wiccans do and believe:

http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm

(And no, that wasn't an attempt to convert you. Wiccans don't generally hold with that "converting" business. If you're meant to find us, you're quite capable of doing it on your own.)

I highly recommend http://www.religioustolerance.org as a general site for researching religions. You could also try the Belief-O-Matic quiz at Beliefnet.com:

Wicca... I believe in a God and a Godess. Afterall, isn't there a male and female of everything in Nature. A God alone wouldn't know the female side. Think about it.
