No you do not need the AGI from the prior year. If you are electronically filing you will need to select a PIN number and submit the form 8453-OL my mail to the IRS

You do not need to have last year's AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) if you file online and then print out form 8453 and sign it and send it in. If you use a company like H & R Block, after you finish doing your return, you have the option of using the AGI from last year to verify your identity or you can opt to send the signature form in.They will give you the form to print out as soon as the IRS accepts your return. It's pretty easy and is what my older son did too.

If you electronically sign your return you'll need last year's AGI, (Since you''re a first-time filer it's "0") and a self-selected PIN.
You must enter "0" on the '05 AGI line or else it will reject the return.
The only time you'll need to submitt form 8453-OL is if you chose not to electronically sign your return. FYI: You can still e-file the return.

If you are talking about needing your prior year AGI in order to electronically file and this is your first time filing, your prior year AGI would be zero.

If you are filing taxes as a independent or dependent for 2006 you only need your W-2's for 2006.

If you file your tax return online by yourself, you'll need last year's AGI. Which in your case it would be zero.
