whats good to build them up big and strong?

A high quality well balanced preferably grain free kibble unless you plan on feeding the species appropriate RAW/BARF diet.

Any quality food will do... I make my own and add a little bit of lamb & rice formula into it.
If you want him strong you need to work him. Walk him daily (let him pull out in front of you), maybe set up a spring pole for him.
Also, if there is a river or lake nearby take him swimming.

I would say to make your dog big and bulky I deffinantly would strongly suggest "Bill Jack" It is very meaty and builds up your dogs, but if you want to keep your dog small and hair approval then I suggest "Royal Canine!"
