Hi there,
These engines are bullet proof if maintained correctly using good quality oils making sure you also have the tappets adjusted at the correct intervals too. I own an early Ford Maverick which is a Terrano 2 in disguise and its brill too with NO t/belt to worry about and NO chain, these engines are driven by gears internally.
Look after it and it will look after you!
PS wee wiring monkeys occasionally but nothing else, oh! make sure you change air filters accordingly too if you don't the mafs(mass airflow sensor) suffers! High mileage terrano's can suffer injector pump failure.

232,000 miles is lots for a Nissan Sentra. i understand people that've pushed Toyotas for 275,000 and three hundred,000; so, I imagine it is plausible to do it including your vehicle too. It relies upon lots on how properly maintained the vehicle has been because the first proprietor. The timing belt and the stress wheel ought to were replaced round 60 to 80K miles. you're pushing your success. If it breaks, the engine will proceed to run, the cams will end turning, the valves will end of their open and closed positions, then the pistons will punch the stuck open valves and both dent the right of the pistons or destroy them off in the right of the pistons, then the engine will end thoroughly; both way, you'd be searching at an finished engine overhaul. If I were you, i'd promote the vehicle and get yet another. in case you opt for to keep the vehicle, you need to rebuild the motor. quite of rebuilding it, it might properly be more low priced to purchase a rebuilt motor through the internet or an area elements keep. once you need to purchase an engine, make certain it comes with a guaranty. Or come across a totaled 2001 Nissan Sentra that has been hit in the rear end with low miles and placed that engine in; yet there is not any longer a make certain that it will paintings properly. solid success

Nissans are extremely reliable, as are all Japanese cars, especially Nissan diesels. The 2.7TD engine employs the use of a timing chain, not a belt.

I know that this was submitted 8 years ago, but it seems that no one has corrected this mistake: the Terrano Tdi has neither a timing chain or a belt, but is hear driven as gsf1200 asserts.
