I've had a constipation problem for a couple of weeks now and I went to the doctor, who prescribed fiber and a stool softener. It hasn't helped too much, and every time I do use the bathroom, it looks weird. First it looked kind of...stringy. Now it's green! This has happened twice before. I've read about it and it said it could just be normal, but I'm a very anxious person...what should I do, and what could this mean?

(I'm also feeling quite dizzy and nauseous lately but I'm not sure if it's my anxiety or related to this.)

The night before last I drank a grape powerade--heavy on purple/blue dye. o.o
It also could be because of the medication, but it hasn't happened last week, and I was taking it then, too. In any case, I'll wait for more answers and wait for my doctor to call me back.

Green stool can be caused by eating certain food dyes...mostly ones that are blue when you eat them. Have you eaten anything blue or purple in the last few weeks?

Make sure you are drinking enough water. Abstain from caffeine and alcohol until things get regular. The odd poo you've had is probably from the fiber and stool softener.

This can sometimes be a side effect of the medication. Pepto Bismol, for example, will cause a color change (it even says so on the bottle). You should check with your pharmacist and/or doctor, they can confirm if this may just be a side effect.
