Strange question. It is an addiction. Addictions are a crutch. Addictions need a lot of motivation to over come. Something needs to replace an addiction - and major lifestyle changes. Cultivate new coping mechanisms in dealing with stress / life / growing up / facing responsibilities of adult life. OVER AND OUT ! x

An illness, it is so addictive and after seeing what is has done to family and friends i haven't had a drink in 3 years to show my support to them, it is worse than any drug out there and it is legal, in Qld they have stricten the rules on drinking but i think they need to put the legal drinking age to 21 and stop the advertsing of alcohol towards younger people. It destroys lives, too many young people die drink driving then have health complications at a younger age.

It's a mental illness/addiction, but can cause physical dependance.

An alcoholic is someone who cannot live day to day without alcohol...but even when in recovery, the 'alcoholic tendencies' will always be there. :-)

To be very brief :
1) Alcoholism is a disease which has no bacteria or virus, but the end result is very well known, & a social evil resulting in accidents on highways, disability, etc. More than 25% beds are used in hospitals are occupied by alcoholics.

2)All major and minor religions discourage alcoholisms and advised to abstain from it hence it is a sin.
