Spine surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Spine surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 25 % of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange spine surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as Spine and other orthopedic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Well, imagine not being able to move your spine. It wouldn't totally restrict your activity, but nevertheless a bit more challenging than otherwise. I would certainly stay away from contact sports like the other person said...

If you look at famous people who's had scoliosis surgery, it includes world class athletes...and some of them are darn sexy lol...

surgery is final though as there's no going back...I'd recommend trying everything else before resorting to surgery..

my bosses daughter just had this surgery and they got several opinions before making a decision because she was an accomplished athlete already and just starting high school. she had the surgery and the doctor told her she should take about a year off from major sports activities, but to stay active and that she would recover 100% completely. also, the younger you are when you have the surgery, the better recovery. im in AZ and they went all theway to NY to have the surgery! Good luck!

After you get your strength back after the surgery no, not for surfing and little hoops. I'd stay from football, BMX and sports where you could be banged around pretty hard though. You'll be fine, do the rehab, protect yourself and just be smart.
