I am looking to buy an oil painting for my room, and I was wondering what size of oil painting should i get? are there any decor rules that i should follow?

Not usually. Just make sure it fits the theme of ur room or colors of your room. Try to keep it large enough to be noticed, but not so large that it detracts from everything else in your room. Also, frames are everything. If you have a crappy frame, the pic might not even matter. Or if ur frame is too big, then you could end up with another mess. All in all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

buy what you like and have room for, as long as it doesn't stand out to much from the other things in your room, it will just be a nice asset.

It has to fit your decor, sizewise it has to fit your furniture and your room size.

art stands alone.

it does not have to MATCH your decor.

if you are investing in art, you need only buy what SPEAKS to you.

hang it where you can enjoy it the most.

buy what you LOVE and you can't go wrong!
