so why does my fathers' Indian family refuse to accept us as part of their family even when we do more for them than we do for any other members of our family? They treat my mother worse than a dog and walk out of the room when she comes in. They never call her by her name and are just so rude. Is this normal because it's normal for us. I don't speak any of the Indian laguages although I understand more than I admit to. I know they just don't like us but we have done nothing wrong except not be Indian. Why does this happen in this day and age? Is this normal for Indian? I hate visiting Indian relatives, I'd rather visit Baghdad!

Where does your father live with you or his parents. You are doing all good to them yet they are not changing their minds then what else can you do instead leaving them and live in your house happily with your parents and brother and sister.
Give your mother lots of love so that she might forget all those depressing stories of her past .

What has happened to you is happpening everywhere in the world. It's just not India you see still jewish n christians dont go in the same line or u can see several e.g's like that .Yes ,in India you can say the no. of cases like this is more due to huge distribution of castes .People here are still not good with this. They dont even marry out of their castes like if sm1 is brahmin he'll marry a brahmin girl n if he doesnt it's a big matter to the community .But I would say things are changing here slowly but steadily .
And about your mom ,she's a good human being isn't she?so neither her or your dad or you have to think about what those narrow-minded people think about your family .Your mom doesnt have to be an Indian to get accepted in a family which love or hate a person on the basis of their being white or black....I mean com-m-on it's so disgusting !!It's very obvious of you to hate them so you really dont need to visit your Indian relatives but you can visit India though .

Something wrong between your parents for sure. A line of trust within them is missing. May be your dad feels betrayed by your mom since you are inclined more towards her culture...

its usual, don't worry, time will heal everything,in the mean time do one thing learn every thing about your fathers family and act according to,love them more, help them when needed, this will help you and your parents to alleviate all tensions in due course.till then sit tight.
