Try Open Office, its an open source office suite similar to Microsoft Office or Works. Plus its 100% free and should work on Windows ME.

Go to Microsoft's website. You can download Microsoft Office 2007 totally for free from there. You can download anything except the actualy Microsoft operating system directly from there for free.

The best free (and legal) office application is Open Office. It works pretty well and can be used with Microsoft Office. You'll get a word processor, spreadsheets, and other MS Office-type applications.
